NINE Questions Chris G. Williams - Talking to the tech community, NINE Questions at a time...

I’ve known Suzanna (aka @ZannaBanana on Twitter) for some time, but we finally met in person at the MVP Summit last week. Fortunately for me (and you, dear reader) she was willing to do a NINE Questions interview. If you’ve ever wondered just what an MVP Lead actually does, read on:

1. Where are you from? (if it's different than where you are now, please feel free to elaborate.)
I was born in San Francisco, CA and grew up in northern California. I attended college in the small town of Arcata, CA and lived and worked in the bay area for most of my life until I came to the northwest.

2. Who do you work for? Give me the 10 second pitch on them. Why would I want to buy their product?
I work for Microsoft and while some would say we make software, we are really about how our customers use software. I think one of the most interesting things about this company is the integrity, creativity, and generosity of the individuals that work here and the customers, partners, and influencers who use our software & services.

3. What brought you to your current employer?
Prior to Microsoft I had been in sales jobs at Trimble Navigation, Sun Microsystems, and Emery Worldwide (yes, I schlepped airfreight for nine months.) My first job with Microsoft was in inside sales and I spent the first couple of years in sales.

4. You're a MVP Lead, and a lot of folks might not know what that means. Can you explain?
My job is to identify and thank people in the community who help others with Microsoft products and technologies in the developer space. I manage the relationship Microsoft has with the MVP.

5. I follow a lot of folks on Twitter. What's your take on Twitter? When is it too much?
I am a major Twit, I LOVE Twitter. I use it exclusively for work and find it’s a great way to connect with my MVPs. It’s especially handy when you are trying to connect with people at a conference but I also find that sharing personal tidbits with each other goes a long way in building relationships, which is what my job is all about. It’s too much on Sunday when @wbm is watching football!

6. Do you think we're hitting any kind of critical mass with all the Conferences, Day of This, Codefoo, User Groups, Camps etc...?
I think that with the pace of technology, adoption rates, and new users, no, there are so many people who can benefit from this type of interaction. I believe that events like code camps are the meat of what community in the offline space is all about; people coming together, connecting, and sharing what they know about technology. Very cool.

7. Being an MVP Lead and active Twitterer is just part of who you are. What's something the world doesn't know about you?
I’m having trouble answering this, clearly I over share on Twitter! Everyone knows I received a kidney from my dad in 1995 and that I ran two half marathons and walked one with Team Transplant.

8. Any non-technical hobbies? What are they and why?
All my hobbies are non-technical! I love art & music because they feed my soul. I enjoy challenging myself physically because every day is a gift.

9. Last of all, any tattoos?
Sorry to disappoint, no tattoos…I have a big scar from the kidney transplant but that’s about it!

I must say that overall I am really impressed with this blog. This post has brilliant way of showing curriculum vitae.
