Michael Van Cleave Traveling the technical world, learning the language

I am sure that everyone has heard of the new generation of certifications that Microsoft is coming out with, so I will not go in to much detail about them.  But I was able to get in on a beta test for one of them.

071-536: TS: Microsoft® .NET Framework 2.0 - Application Development Foundation

I found it to be quite interesting.  This was the first time I have taken a beta test and didn't know what to expect.  Nevertheless, it turned out to be 84 questions long and very extensive on many topic including Security, Serialization, Flow of events, and other areas.  When you log in, you are asked to select the language that you would like to see code examples in, and away you go.  I didn't suffer from any problems while I was taking the test, as most seem to expect to hear about for a beta series test.

Although I thought the test was good it wasn't much of what I expected.  I thought it would have more to do with the language features since it seems more like a Foundation type test, then get in to the more specialized areas of the language you choose as you get in to other tests.  With that said, it really didn't have much to do with the new features of the .NET framework.  I think I only had about 3 questions on generics and that was about it.

I do hope that they do trim down the number of questions on the test.  While obtaining my MCSD, I was happy with the format and the 40-50ish question limit.  I just feel that anything after that I really start to loose steam and focus and start to think about other things that don't have to do with the test (LIKE WORK).

Anyhow, I am not sure if I passed it or not since I have to wait until the test goes live before they send out my results.  I will keep you posted.  I hope to get in a few more of the tests.  I really think it is worth while since I seem to learn something (usually more than one something) new everytime I do.
