As of 05:00 UTC today, July 2 2014, the New Horizons space probe was only 3 A.U. from Pluto. (An AU or Astronomical unit is the average distance of the Earth from the Sun.)

New Horizons looks as if it about to cross the orbit of Neptune but this will not take place until next month. According to http://pluto.jhuapl.edu/mission/passingplanets/passingPlanets_current.php, “New Horizons crosses the orbit of Neptune on August 25, 2014 — exactly 25 years after Voyager 2 made its historic exploration of that giant planet.”.
