Yesterday I changed my twitter username from @Mohamed_Meligy to just @Meligy. Why? I have been thinking about this step for a long time, as my tweets are relatively long, and when I want to to allow people to re-tweet. With my old username, I used to have to write at max 120 characters per tweet to allow re-tweet (leaving 20 characters out of the real 140 characters limit to “RT @Mohamed_Meligy: ”). So not long after I complained that there where so few System Administerors on the social media scene, Friendfeed introduces “Rooms” and immediately Adnan takes the initiative and makes a Sysadmin Room. The uptake was pretty damn fast, probably partly due to Adnans blog being part of the Planetsysadmin collective. If you look at the history of my blog posts (and why would you) you will notice a trend. When posts were high a vast majority of them was simply passing information along from another site. No more than public bookmarking with a few comments. I used my blog to keep a history of the things I found interesting. And if someone else also found them interesting, great! Now that posts are low, I usually put more thought into each post and try to depart some real information from myself. Posts dropped dramatically ...
