C# Station has gone through multiple updates over the years. I started it on the 4th of July 2000, shortly after the first announcement of the C# programming language, hence the name. You can find analytical information on Alexa and the Wayback Machine shows screen shots of changes over time. Whenever you pop something on the Web without much thought, there can be true ugliness. The journey from plain text links to drop-down menus evolved from necessity because the number of pages grew from 1 to ...

I was asked about the method I use for documenting products, so I thought I'd blog about it. Topic-based information is essential to today's computer user, whether using web software or shopping online. Most users use information to get "unstuck." Learning methodologies or reading the Great American Novel are for the student or the insomniac. Most experienced users can figure out how to use more intuitive software but hit the occasional snag in a process. Only then do they turn to the information ...

I was sitting watching my son play Transformers:War for Cybertron today (it’s 4x XP points today you know, so he’s got to play 24x7 this weekend…) and I saw an email come in from GoDaddy. That’s right XNADevelopment.com was renewed today for another year! It’s really hard to believe that I’ve been writing tutorials and been part of the ...

One of the toughest things for an Indie game developer is getting exposure. For many Xbox Live Indie Games (“XBLIGs”), the time they spend on the “New Releases” list is critical to their success (or failure). Most games can expect a couple of days to a week before dropping off the end of the list. At that point, if they haven’t jumped up to either the “Top Downloads” or the “Top Rated” list, they will often fall off the radar of many gamers. Recently, though, a very fine gentleman from Germany, Mr. ...

Now, VSTO has a separate wing in MSDN Forums with the name 'Office for Developers'. I am really happy to see this. When I started working with VSTO, there are very less tutorials on the web. Forum posts and responses are also rare at that time. Its popularity increased like anything in just one year. Earlier, there is only one forum for VSTO programming. As the usage of VSTO is increased, separate forums are introduced.Following are newly introduced forums. Outlook – http://social.msdn.microsof... ...

Fairly frequently a relative, friend, or friend of a friend asks me “Hey Eric, you know about this stuff. I want to learn to program. How do I do that?”. Ahh, I am experiencing the intimidation of my very first post - visible by the whole world. Ok, here goes. This first post is nothing exceptional. Following up on my prior “gems post” is another nugget I found in the Visual Studio 2010 and .NET Framework 4 Training Kit. ASP.NET MVC has established quite a bit of momentum in the ASP.NET development community since it was introduced in early-ish 2009 though I’m sure there are many developers who haven’t had the time or opportunity to find out what it is, not to mention learn how to use it. If you’re one of those “I’ve heard of it but I’m not sure what it really is” developers then I suggest you ...
Yay! Today I'm going to get into some code! My mind has been on this all day! I find it amusing how I practice, daily, to be "in the moment" or "present" and the excitement and anticipation of this project seems to snatch it away from me frequently. WELL!!! (Shakes Excitedly) Let's do this =)! Let's code! For these next few days it is my intention to better understand image rendering using XNA; after said prototypes are complete I should (fingers crossed) be able to dive into my game code using the ...
