Reading through CLR via C# and came accross 2 interesting things that were just mentioned in passing in the book. After some poking around I figured out how to get this setup ... http://msdn.microsoft.com/i... is the place to start. Shareware Starter Kit http://msdn.microsoft.com/v... alot of really useful ...

What is up? Not much by the looks of it. I'm finally starting to go out and dig up the various game engines written in .NET that I can leverage in the project I'm revisiting (as I'm not really in the mood to reinvent a wheel that has already been re-invented like a hundred million billion times by various college students out there (here's a theory: I think there are more game engine projects out there than hamburgers McDonald's has sold in the entire history of their company)). So, what did I find? ...
Today things went pretty much different, and to the better. The keynote session turned into 3 keynotes. The first was given by Kareem Ramadan, the cool guy on top of all Microsoft Egypt. He spoke of the MDC as the 5th one, when people kept saying it was the 4th, just to know that there was another very first MDC turn, which most people didn’t know about! So, it was fun as you can see. He later said he was sorry that Bill Gates is not with us this year, and, said that they had 3000 registrations ...
A small incident today brought up my thought on this topic. One of my friends is learning BizTalk with 2006 beta 2 following the BizTalk Server 2006 Tutorials in the online document. While after doing BizTalk Server 2006 Tutorials > Tutorial 2: Purchase Order Process > Lesson 5: Build and Deploy the Projects, he dropped the test message into the file folder and expected the file to be sucked in. But nothing happened in about half hour before he asked me. Then I discovered that unlike BizTalk ...
Yesterday, I had the privilege of attending the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) which was held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL. This convention is not open to the general public and over 250 high school students from Central Florida were invited to attend along with their teacher as chaperones. The last time I attended this event was four years ago and lots of technology has changed as you know in that time period. Some of my students ...
Yesterday I had some problems with sleeping, so, I thought I should do something useful. I opened my browser and favourites and my Gmail box and started typing to my MCAD course group and my close friends. I think I should put that here - after removing some parts of course! ;-) Lets start... Remember all the hussel online about AJAX stuff ? Maybe some of you have already got a book written about it. Some might have got into the whole ATLAS ? thing. Now I come to give you some more stuff I think ...

For sometime now my home PC hasn’t really been behaving itself. It’s been slow in parts and mysterious errors have surfaced in commonly used applications. A whole bunch of those repair and optimisation utilities have been thrown at my PC over the years but the simple fact was that the machine was suffering from to much clutter. I had released a while ago that I had never completely rebuild my machine from scratch I had always upgraded my PC with each new version of Windows from 98 to ...

For my first blog entry I'd like to mention something that seems to be left out of the many Biztalk tutorials and examples out on the web. Let me start by saying how much this little quirk drove me nuts and how much time I wasted trying to figure out why this strange behavior was happening. I was ready to throw my face into a brick wall a few times. So... its really simple, here goes: Symptoms:In HAT, under Orchestration debugger, your current Orchestration shows up just like you would expect. As ...
This weekend is all about GridView control :). I wrote three simple tutorials about GridView. You can read the articles on www.gridviewguy.com.
If you have been following my earlier blog, you know that I am Sunil Jagadish, a Microsoft Student Ambassador, pursuing Master of Computer Applications in RV College of Engineering (RVCE), Bangalore.. Seems like a pretty cool tool. Lightweigth(4.78MB) and feature-packed, this tools can really let you create some amazing models and scenes. Check www.blender.org. GameDev.net has recently come up with “Using Blender to Make Game Models “ series of tutorials which seem to be very descriptive and with a lot of screenshots :). You can, however, order the entire tutorial guide for 39 Euros from blender itself. Another tool I like playing around with is gmax. The younger brother of 3DMax, ...
I appreciate Shaggy mentioning one of my tutorials on his blog today. I attempted to leave a comment on his blog, but I could never get it to post. He was talking about changing the msn search to default to google. Since I could not leave it there, here was my response: Thanks for the mention. Google is still winning the search engine war. Here's the exact link to changing the default search engine in the MSN Desktop Search: http://www.tech-recipes.com... You guys probably won't ...

Reading today some long ques of blogs, I have been on vacation for a few days, without any computer close by (I got to points where my hands were itching to type, but it is better without computers sometimes). Vacation was great, Israel has some beautiful sites and things to see, if you like nature, now is one of the best times to come and see awesome sights. I'll be glad to provide tour help... Anyway reading James Governor mentioning a XUL application that does Amazon, I rememberd that a few years ...
After my last post , which is now a long time ago, David Weller has picked up the topic about my open question if VB.NET discriminates directly DirectX and Tom Miller posted also his thoughts about it. And he made it clear what also my originally thought was , it is just a simple Bug and will be fixed in a future release. I NEVER wanted to presume that this was intentionally against VB developers (because i am not one of the die hard vbies , i am just using vb due to my laziness on writing punctuations ...
I guess my first blog here will be about the terrarium competition we are running in Canada. This seem to be the best place to pick up the slack, as that is the last thing I blogged about at theSpoke (www.theSpoke.net). So what is Terrarium? Terrarium is a multiplayer ecosystem game developed using the .NET Framework. Developers can create their own creatures and add them into the game on their own client machine. The creatures get teleported between clients in the Terrarium peer-to-peer network. ...
I've been lurking around in the blog community for far too long. A big kudos to Jeff for setting up this blog to get me going. I am the architect in a small software group. I'm currently working on a couple projects, one of which uses BizTalk 2004, SharePoint Services, InfoPath, and, of course, .NET (mainly in C#). I would have to say that it was BizTalk 2004 that drove me to this point in my life. While I was learning enough of BizTalk to figure out if it was a good move to base our next product ...
What I have found in my vast experience of experimentation and failure is that I don't have a single bone in my body that can draw anything. Sure, I'm a master at stick figures, but my skill isn't even to the level to allow me to do masterpieces of modern art like Rory does. Since I've been working on a 2d tile-based game engine, I have found that I long to have any sort of drawing skills. In that vein, I came across some really good links if you are at all interested in pixel art or arcade-like ...

Hello, all my faithful readers. I just wanted to say that now that the DirectX Summer Update has been released, expect to see some progress again on the game development series I am doing. However, I have a question to pose to all of you who have been following the series (those who haven't may stop reading now). Should I continue with the current game or shall I change to a Mario-style side-scrolling game? First an explanation is in order, methinks. I believe that using the current game is potentially ...
I know I have been away from the blogosphere quite a bit in the last couple of weeks. I just thought I would let you all know what's been going on (I'm sure only a couple of you really care). Well, my wife and I bought our first house and officially moved in last Saturday. Unfortunately, on the same day we were moving in, I was informed that my grandfather had passed away. That hit me pretty hard because my grandfather was the only other serious musician in my entire extended family. Music was a ...
