Tangible Thoughts SharePoint, MOSS? and all the other questions

So I spent my first day at my new employer's and I am not as impressed as I innitially thought I would be.

Spent most of the day setting up or trying to setup MOSS 2007 Beta 2. Ran in to a couple of issues innitially.

First there was the issue of a concurrency problem when configuring MOSS. At stage 8 in the configuration process, the Configuration wizard it gave me the following error.

An exception of type Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPUpdatedConcurrencyException was thrown. Additional exception information: An update conflict has occurred, and you must re-try this action. The object SPServer Name=Server Parent=SPFarm Name=SharePoint_Config is being updated by Server\spuser, in the OWSTIMER process, on machine Server. View the tracing log for more information about the conflict.

Fortunately I found this, and proceeded to undo the whole configuration. Running the configuration wizard and choosing the 'Standalone' option seemed to avoid the issue above.

The second issue, which I am still facing is that even though I create an application on the default web site, browsing it in IE shows me the Page cannot be displayed error. Creating an application on any other website seems fine- wierd, needs investigation.

Anyways Harsh's blog has a good heads up on Setting up MOSS 2007. Unfortunately I found this too late.
