Hi Guys, I created a few Feedburner Urls to the feeds on my blog. SharePoint Content only – http://feeds.feedburner.com... All blog content – http://feeds.feedburner.com... Currently they point to this blog so you might have to still tolerate the ads (I am looking into what I can do about that). but for starters they are FeeBurner Urls. Hit 25
Ok, Today makes me 25 years old. When I was around 18 I used to think that anyone above 25 was old. I mean I was revving up to get in to the software business, and there the young ruled, perhaps becuase the IT industry in Sri Lanka was very young. So I have this notion lobbed in my brain that when you reach 25, you are getting old or past your prime. Do I feel any different? No, just a slightly depressed that another year has ticked away and I am not where I want to be. Let me recap 1. Got Dream ......

It might be a quiet new years eve
After December 25th I haven’t heard a single firework explode. Usually in the run up to the dawn of a new year you would very frequently hear people lighting fireworks. This year it’s all so quiet. Certain organizations that had organized events for the new years, have gone as far as providing the option of contributing ones ticket fare to the Relief effort in addition to reimbursing it. I also personally know a lot of individuals who will be heading down South or to the North East this weekend to ......

Nature knows what Nature doees
Today our local papers ran an article saying that in one of our National parks that were hit by the Tsunami not an animal corpse is visible. The article further goes onto say that any animal, not even a hare is insight. Out of nearly 450 elephants that roam the park not one is in sight. I did notice this too. Usually near the beach you do have a bit of aerial wildlife mainly in the form of crows (or ravens or whatever you might call them). The day of the tsunami, in the morning there was not a single ......

Some people are just so evil
For the last couple of days after the tsunami struck, the sea hasn’t been quite back to normal. At infrequent intervals during the past 2 days the sea level will drop and then rise a bit. This is clearly visible by observing the water level against the reef. Yesterday in the town of Moratuwa when the sea level rose a bit a set of ruffians had gone around announcing that another wave was imminent and that the people should vacate immediately, whilst these ruffians were prepared to loot the empty houses. ......

Life is not back to normal (for some it might never be)
Tuesday 28th Dec, 2nd day after the tsunami hit. More than 1 million people in Sri Lanka alone affected, and it’s very hard to get back to normal life. At work your mind just isn’t on work. Every few minutes I keep checking the Reuters site or this list. Rumors that are floating around aren’t helping. For instance several offices closed yesterday in panic because it was rumored that another quake of magnitude 9.2 had struck. Today too there was a call saying that the sea level was rising again. Even ......

Something about Skylines
This one is for all you car enthusiasts. I am sure all of you have most definitely have heard of the Nissan Skyline GTR, yes we are talking about the legend here. And some of you also might know or might be freaked out by Nissans plans for the GTR. Or then again you might be mistaken. The latest I have heard is that the next car to wear the "GTR" badge is going to look like this (image below), and it might not be a Skyline at all. Yes, dissapointing isnt it. It looks more like the Infiniti G35 (Skyline ......

Recently I had a need to open up a PayPal account. So popped open a browser and surfed off to www.paypal.com, the sign up form over there doesn’t have Sri Lanka in its drop down list, so I hopped over to this page which shows you for which countries Paypal accounts are available for, and as you might have guessed no Sri Lanka. Well I don’t think its PayPal’s fault; I feel has more to do with the state of IT in the country/banks in the country. Oh well what to do, just fuss about it for a couple of ......

I washed my motherboard yesterday
Yes I did, and it was the Hardware guys who told me to do it. Actually the reason for this need to wash the Motherboard was because I live close to the blasted sea. My place (actually family home) overlooks the Indian Ocean . While this might be mighty awesome from the scenic angle, it is bloody awful for me. Over the past month I found a great buildup of salt on my mother board and VGA card, I didn’t too much notice of it since the PC was working OK. I just gave it a good wipe and continued. But ......

Guess where are troops are going? Haitti! Yep, right in to the middle of hurricane territory. The funny thing is now that there is no War to kill them; they felt a bit a ‘too alive’ and decided a hurricane was almost the same excitement as fighting Tigers in our back yard. Interesting F1 Championship history.
I was looking for a list online to use as some testdata for a certain SharePoint tool I use internally when I came across this link. The site gives you a run down of the F1 championship history. What interesting is you can see what engines the teams have been running way back then, and what teams are now non-existent. For instance - Mc Laren were running on Ford and Porsche way before they were on Honda engines. - Williams were using Ford and then Honda engines - Lotus used to compete in F1 ......

Google Browser
This hit my scanners today. A couple of folks from Microsoft and Sun have left to join Google. So far it is rumored that Google is planning on building a web browser. What I don’t understand is with FireFox, Mozilla, Opera, etc why bother. But then I am inclined to think that it might be a contribution to the Mozilla effort or a spin-off based on Mozilla. The other angle to this is that now Microsoft and Sun might have a few vacancies J Any predictions anyone on what the browser will be called. How ......

A funny thing happened
My machine crashed today! and I am a bit puzzled about it. The crash was a BSOD crash, with the Stop error being 0X000000008E (0X00000005, 0X80588318, 0XF4E4ACC4, 0X00000000). Right now I blame the hardware, from what I have read typical reasons for the 0X000000008E crash are either the memory or the BIOS. Anyway while I was in a foray seeking out a reason for the crash, I came across this thread on the newsgroups about a user facing the 0X000000008E Stop error, which eventually turned out to be ......
