Call of Duty 4 - HD Trailer
A Call of Duty 4 trailer seems to have surfaced at E3. The good news, its not WWII anymore (thank god). From what I gather the time frame the game is set in is today in an alternate reality where there is a war in Ukraine. There is no indiciation whether the oppositions is terrorist regime, or an evil empire. In fact the premise to the story is a bit emptying, all that is shown is a post chenobyll era with a terrorist style opposition in Ukraine. Check it out: http://gametrailers.com/pla... ......

MMORPG -Lord of the Rings Online Uses .NET
Lord of the Rings Online, a MMORPG from Turbine apparently uses .NET. The system requirements explicitly say so. I am not sure what parts of the game are .NET and which are native code, but I assume that the launcher is written in .NET and I did spy some resource assemblies being downloaded in the update process. The version of .NET required is 1.1 with Service Pack 1. Which means on a Vista box framework 1.1 gets installed in the LOTRO setup. Hmm need to explore more. Anyway's here is 2 incriminating ......

NFS Carbon - Single Player is Dissapointing
EA might have put in a lot of work in to NFS Carbon, but it really doesn't show. The single player campaign was very short. The story was really shallow. and overall the game wasnt very immersive. Another thing that is odd is that EA put in quite a few sweet muscle cars into the game, but took out the drag races. Whats the use of muscle cars if there are no drag races? On the positive there is much larger online experience in the game, but if not for that the game aint so great. Cross-posted from ......

Rainbow 6 Lockdown - not so Rainbow 6ish
I just got my hands on Rainbow 6 Lockdown and spent a couple of hours with it. My opinion so far, its not so emmersive as the earlier games. This game falls short of all what Rainbow 6, Rogue Spear, Convert Ops built up. I was a big fan of the mission planning apect of the game. But this lockdown its more like SWAT. I dont want just another SWAT game, there was a reason why R6 rocked, and thats missing from this one. Lets hope LasVegas will deliver, but I wouldnt bet on it. Valve releases its HDR Demo Level for HL2 - The Lost Coast
Valve have released the 'The Lost Coast', a HDR Lighting Demo level for HalfLife 2. Along the progress of the game you do have 'narratives' which exposes you to various aspects of building the game, character modeling and the technology itself. The best part is that this a free demo, however if you the requirements for HDR is very high. What is required is a processor speed greater than 2.8Ghz, more than 1GB Ram, and a Direct X 9 Card, which means I don't get to see all those cool bloom effects. ......

Rumor, AOE might be in for a 5 part series
Joystiq, points out that there is a rumor that Ensemble might be planning a 5 part series for Age of the Empires. The image shown left (i.e. if joystiq doesn't change the link) shows solders of different eras; Eras I & II correspond to the 2 previous AOE games, Era III matches what I've played of the AOE3 demo. As cool as this sounds, its a bit hard to fathom that the series might come to an end after 2 more releases. That is very very hard to believe, AOE has a large following, and I am sure ......

Most gamers probably consider Valve a household name, along with Gordon Freeman, and Black Mesa. So what impression is on the top of the minds of most HL2 fans?
