What is REST
Can you feel it: What is REST? The following has been abstracted from Roger L. Costello;s article REST is a term coined by Roy Fielding in his Ph.D. dissertation [1] to describe an architecture style of networked systems. Security Best Products
I will survive: 1. Hardware firewall. For small-office Wi-Fi networking, the most affordable secure firewall is the Linksys Wireless-G WRT54G router (left, about $60 USD street), which also offers four ports for wired Ethernet. If you wish to install third-party Linux firmware, get the WRT54GL ($70). To cover more than a few adjacent rooms, consider the Linksys WRT54GX ($160), which doubles the usual "g" range. Be sure to enable WPA or WPA2, either of which provide strong Wi-Fi security. The WRT54G ......

Windows Tip #5
Every breath you take: You can turn a folder into a taskbar toolbar. First, unlock your taskbar. Next, drag the icon of the desired folder to the space between the taskbar buttons and the clock. (Wait for the no-entry cursor to change to an arrow. It's a very tiny space; you will have to hunt for it.) You can rearrange and resize the taskbar toolbar you just created. You can even turn the taskbar toolbar into a menu by resizing it until only its name is visible ......

SOA without web services?
If I had a hammer: Something struck me recently after an in-depth discussion with a couple of my ‘thinking’ buddies – SOA isn’t really about web services. What’s more in realility SOA isn’t really about technology! SOA is about how businesses deliver the services that make them their income. In fact a very wise man told me that SOA had been around since man started trading with man. His point was that in order to support the ‘service’ a business provided ......

Windows Tip #3

Flowers in the window:

You can turn a folder into a desktop toolbar by dragging the icon of the desired folder to the edge of the screen. You can then turn it into a floating toolbar by dragging it from the edge of the screen into the middle of the screen.  (It helps if you minimize all application windows first.)

Dance to the music: * SlySoft announced yesterday that the latest version of their mega-popular DVD ripper, AnyDVD, now also removes Macrovision's CDS-300 copy protection mechanism. Unlike most other protection methods removed by AnyDVD, CDS-300 can be only found on audi CDs and the copy protection mechanism itself is similar to the notorious XCP "root kit" copy protection from Sony. AnyDVD now removes CDS-300 from audio CDs and also prevents it (and similar copy protection mechanisms) from installing ......

Should Workflow drive Business Process or Business Process drive Workflow?
The Only Way Is Up: At a recent ADS at Microsoft UK I had an interesting debate with a customer over what should drive which! In this case should Workflow drive Business Process? In this particular case we were discussing their home-grown workflow engine and BizTalk 2004. They initial argument was that workflow should drive multiple mini orchestrations. Now while this sounds quite appealing it misses the point somewhat. In the ADS we were discussing a scenario in an isolated manner. By this I mean ......

Why should we pay for wireless access in a hotel?
Money: Having been to various events across US and UK and been charged various amounts for web access it got me thinking that shouldn't it be free? My reasoning is that if I use it , it costs nothing, if I don't use it it still costs nothing! What the usual argument is revolves around support. OK then lets charge for support! Better still lets not. Why? Well when I book a room it comes with a number of things - a bed, bedsheets, towels, shampoo, conditioner, bubble bath, TV and tea making stuff all ......
