Shelfari: Book reviews on your book blog

.net alternatives by Michel Grootjans

I've been using the application launcher Quicksilver on my Mac for about a year and a half now. It was the first app I installed. However, with Quicksilver, I've never been able to go further than the basic launching of applications. Maybe it's because I didn't put much effort in learning the tool. Maybe it's because I'm too used to the windows-based Launchy.

A few days ago, I stumbled upon a review of an alternative launcher: Alfred. I downloaded and installed it. I have been using it for about a week now, and I really like it. For basic application launching, it's exactly the same keystrokes as with Quiksilver. However, the ease of use for extra tasks is what I like about it.

I'm ditching Quicksilver, welcome Alfred.

I've been using Alfred for about 2 weeks and I reverted back to QuickSilver. I couldn't get Alfred to browse my iTunes library and my file system. It had potential though, certainly the fast search on Google and Amazon was promising.

Never got really warm with Quicksilver, too. First experience with Alfred is nice so far. Thx, for the tip.
