Ever met a geek with an AOL email account?  Probably not.  Ever wanted to migrate someone you know from AOL to Gmail?  Your wife or Mom maybe, so you could share docs, calendars and stuff??  Well here is the easiest method, assuming of course that you have MS Outlook.

1.  Fire up Outlook, you don't need to create an email account, creating a profile without email support works just fine.

2.  Goto https://www.forge.funambol.org/download/ and download the AOL sync at the bottom of the page.

3.  Run the program, goto Tools - Options - Account and fill in the AOL account username and password to sync from.

4.  Click the Contacts button and watch your contacts magically appear in Outlook

5.  From Outlook choose File - Export - to a file - CSV - Contacts.

6.  From Gmail click contacts - import - choose file and there you go!

Thanks Funambol for the nice open source sync tool! Posted on Friday, August 21, 2009 8:25 AM | Back to top

This looks very interesting, but I do not see any link for AOL Sync on the Funambol download page. Did you mean download the Outlook Sync Client?

I already use Outlook for my AOL mail, and am looking for a way to export my AOL Address Book into Outlook Contacts (not gmail) so I don't have to go into AOL any more. Thanks.

I'm trying to sync my my outlook contacts and calendar with AOL. Funambols's AOLsync seemed to be the answer, but I am running into problems, namely that the sync won't work, because it says that it can't access the server. Any ideas?

Thanks. Mark

Judy - Yes, you can use Funambol to pull in AOL adresses into Outlook as well. Same process.

Mark - You need to configure the "Account" using the Outlook Funambol plug-in.

If either of you need more info, see the Funambol Outlook Plug-in User Guide (just google "funambol outlook plugin".

Hope this helps.
