Brian Scarbeau Insights from a seasoned Computer Science Trainer
This week several Microsoft MVP’s volunteered their time to help Microsoft promote VISTA in different retail stores. We were all part of the FOOTS (FEET ON THE STREET) program. To prepare for this event, we all received the necessary training material that was needed so we can review in advance. There was also a live webcasts that we could attend and a chance to ask any questions we might have. A large package was already delivered to our store with the label Hold for Microsoft Trainer. When the day arrived, I was ready to go evangelize VISTA! On a rainy dreary Saturday morning, I headed to my local Best Buy store in Orlando, FL. There were close to 20 customers in line before the store opened and I was excited from the start. I met different store managers who were kind of cool to me being there to help out their salespeople and customers which I thought was strange. After several minutes of looking, we finally found the package that was there for me and it was full of swag and literature to give out to salespeople and customers. The salespeople and Geek squad employees were very friendly and appreciative of me being there. I was instructed to give them VISTA t-shirts and their faces lit up when I did. They were the first to ask me many questions about VISTA. My demo was a nice HP touch screen system that had great graphics to show off the VISTA eye candy. It was in a nice location near the entrance of the store so customers who wanted to stopped by for a demo or they just smiled at me and walked off. All in all, I was glad to help Microsoft spread the word about VISTA. Posted on Saturday, February 3, 2007 2:58 PM | Back to top
