Today, I purchased my tickets to go to Seattle for the MVP Summit which will be held in April.

The MVP Global Summit is a four-day invitation-only event hosted at the Washington State Trade and Convention Center in Seattle and at Microsoft headquarters in Redmond, Washington. With more than 400 sessions and a variety of networking opportunities, the MVP Global Summit enables Microsoft Most Valuable Professionals (MVPs) and Regional Directors (RDs) to:

  • Connect with other MVPs and RDs
  • Engage with Microsoft product managers
  • Provide valuable feedback directly to Microsoft on its products and technologies.

This will be my 3rd MVP Summit that I've attended. For some reason when I first got the award they didn't have one. In any event, I'm getting excited about going. It's a long flight from Orlando, FL and the weather isn't as nice but the adrenaline rush that you get when you go up the escalator to the room at the Washington Convention Center is a big one. The Microsoft people are very friendly and try to answer all your questions.

Last year, I even had the chance to ask Bill Gates if Computer Science Education was dead. The crowd even applauded after my question.

Russ Fustino took my picture when Bill was still talking.

MVP Summit

I am always looking at new ways to update the computer science education curriculum and the Summit is a great place to be to ask questions. There is so much that can be taught like Silverlight, XNA, Expression Web, Ajax that isn't in a high school class. At one time Microsoft use to have free curriculum for teachers to download and provide free teacher training but they stopped doing this. Hopefully, I'll have the opportunity to meet with some product managers who might be able to help me.

Dave Mitchell who is part of the XNA group has helped me tremendously with my XNA class so maybe others can help as well.

I'll be blogging about that trip when I go in April. The summit can't come soon enough for me!
