Why are Radio Button Lists so DUMB?

Saturday, March 24, 2007 12:41 PM

Seriously...its 2007...if I try to set an item in a radio button list to selected through the "FindByText" feature...

i.e.

rblSomeList.Items.FindByText("DonaldBelchamLovesTreets").Selected = true;

..., if the text isn't found why doesn't the list's default behavior just ignore the selection attempt?!

Hmm...<remembering to that label incident...>

You should be checking rblSomeList.Items.FindByText("DonaldBelchamLovesTreets") for null 3/24/2007 6:51 PM | Dave

I think that Dave's suggestion should not be ignored, have you tried it ? 3/30/2007 10:07 PM | Keen

Hey guys,

I ended up doing the check for null in code (thanks for the suggestion Dave).

My post was more just "its sooo silly that you HAVE to check for Null instead of just ignoring the selection attempt and keeping either the currently selected node or default to the first index" venting.

:)
