Oracle Database Extensions for .NET

Tuesday, October 30, 2007 8:33 AM

Looks like Oracle is implementing one of SQL Server 2005's features: the ability to write stored procedures in .NET code and have them stored within Oracle. They've also released an ODAC update that will allow you to develop and deploy the stored procs from within VS.NET 2005.

You can read more about the Oracle Database Extensions for .NET here.

Why would they do this? Is the sole purpose of this decision to move the Oracle world into making bullsh*t decisions and putting more business logic into their store proc? When did it become so cool for our stored procs to hold more than just the fundamental CRUD features?

Dammit man....I lost all 4 wisdom teeth today and you drop this on me? Obviously my intellect didn't fall nearly as much as that of Oracle today! 10/30/2007 1:36 PM | Donald Belcham
