If you would like to install an add-on to your Windows XP installation you will be forced to verify that your copy of Windows is genuine. Check out the full story here.
The thing I find interesting most interesting is that if you are found to have a pirated copy you will have the option to pay for a licensed copy, $99 for Windows XP Home and $149 for Windows XP Pro. Doing a quick check over at Amazon shows, $189.99 for Windows XP Home and $249.99 for Windows XP Pro. So why should I actually buy the product first?
From now on I will make sure to get a pirated copy first, in order to save myself $100. You get a $100 rebate for being a pirate. I wonder if I walked into Best Buy with an eye patch, if they can give me the same deal. This system is actually encouraging piracy. What kind of craziness is that.
Shouldn't Microsoft not punish us for being honest.
