Microsoft is going to be providing free presentations for user groups to utilize via the INETA content repository. The newest (and first) presentation from this group is titled: Microsoft Programming Languages Roadmap. The goals of the presentation are to:

  • Outline the Microsoft programming language philosophy
  • Provide an overview of Microsoft’s current programming languages
  • Detail programming language enhancements in the upcoming Whidbey release
  • Lay out the programming language roadmap and vision for Microsoft programming languages through Longhorn
  • In addition, outline Microsoft’s scripting roadmap

The presentation includes talking points for each slide and is therefore quite easy to use for your local user group. Even if you are not using it for presentation purposes, it is an outstanding presentation to read through and learn from. Take a look and make your comments about the presentation here if you wish. More ppts will follow. Enjoy!

UPDATE: I had an upload problem. Seems it is just an empty file. Fixing it at the moment.

UPDATE 2: It is FIXED! GO download crazy!

This presentation would be better named "A Roadmap to Some of Microsoft's Programming Languages". There is absolutely no mention of Visual FoxPro. Just because it isn't a .NET language doesn't mean it doesn't exist and doesn't mean it isn't a viable solution for a project.
