Technically Speaking All in on IT

Is anything you download from Google not labeled BETA? Well, I guess the search engine isn't! Anyhoo, they now have the Google Pack. A collection of various Google and other third party offerings designed to <marketing on> help your computer run better and provide much needed services such as photo editing and organization, search, directions, screensaver, anti virus, etc. They also include the Google Updater to automatically check for updates on all the included packages. Really, when is the Google OS coming out?? The really interesting thing is every single one of the items in the Google Pack have a competing product from the Microsoft stable. These two companies are really in a parallel development mode and then Yahoo! is lurking around as well. It can either pick up the pieces from the Microsoft vs. Google war or get acquired as the killing stroke for one of these companies. There’s no shortage of reading the tea leaves here!

Included is:

  • Google Updater
  • Google Earth
  • Picasa
  • Google Pack Screensaver
  • Google Desktop
  • Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer
  • Mozilla Firefox with Google Toolbar
  • Ad Aware SE Personal
  • Adobe Reader 7
  • Norton Anti Virus 2005 Special Edition
