It is disgusting how NBC is displaying the Olympics as a human drama reality tv. These athletics have trained their entire life for one shot at greatness. They should be treated with the respect they deserve instead of being whittled down to a soap opera!

It is human drama; that's the point. Once every 4 years we get to delve into the lives of these great athletes that are otherwise relatively unknown for most of their careers. We get to feel their joy and feel their pain. We get to really "know" them. I believe that the network has done a great job delivering the "reality" of these athletes lives and their sport. These are the greatest athletes on the worlds biggest stage...of course there's going to be drama; both personal and professional.

I absolutely agree with you. If I was an olympic athelete and all the networks commented on was how bad a life I had before I won this gold medal, rather than on my athletic performace I would be really pissed. I think its disrespectful to gloss over the actualy athletic acheivement and focus on the Lifetime (Channel for Woman) melodrama
